About Srujana

Srujana (सृजन, “creation”) is the annual tech fest of Chanakya University, held at its Global Campus in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, near Kempegowda International Airport. Srujana 2026 runs from 24 to 26 October 2026.

There are eight competitions for college students: a 48-hour hackathon, a robo race, Prompt to Product (build a prototype with generative AI in four hours), code debugging in Python and C, the Startup to Spotlight pitch contest, a research paper poster contest, a 24-hour short film challenge and critical thinking, with ₹4,35,000 in prizes.

Register online, solo or with your team, and you get a QR ticket for check-in at the fest.

Who can take part?

College students with a valid college ID. Register online for any event: some are solo, others are for teams.

Can I enter more than one event?

Yes. Register separately for each event you want to take part in.

Hackathon: teams of 2–4. Prompt to Product: solo or up to 4. Robo Race: teams of 2–4. Code Debugging: solo. Startup to Spotlight: teams of 4. Research Paper Poster: solo or up to 2. Short Film: solo or up to 7. Critical Thinking: solo.

What should I bring?

Your college ID and the QR ticket you get after registering. Robo Race teams also bring their robot for inspection.

How it works

  • 48-hour development challenge using an open technology stack.
  • Teams select a problem statement aligned with their chosen theme.
  • Solutions are developed through continuous evaluation every 8 hours.
  • The one-minute working demo is the primary basis for first-round shortlisting.
  • Shortlisted teams proceed to final evaluation through their working implementation, repository and documentation.

Prompt to Product₹24,000

Theme Sustainable Innovation: “Prompt for the Planet”.

How it works

  • The problem statement is issued at the start of the session; no prior preparation on it is permitted.
  • Teams get exactly 4 hours to ideate, design, build and prepare a demo.
  • At least one generative AI tool must be used, and teams must be able to explain their prompts and approach.
  • The prototype may be a software application, web or mobile demo, AI-model demonstration, simulated hardware/IoT concept or a hybrid.
  • The core solution must be original work built within the 4-hour window; pre-built products are not allowed.
  • Documentation and the final presentation must be in English, and content must be appropriate for a college-level event.
  • External code, data and assets must be legally permitted for use.
  • Plagiarism, use of a pre-existing product or violation of the time limit may lead to disqualification.
  • The decision of the judging panel is final and binding.

What you submit

  • A working demo (or a demo video or screen recording as backup) within the 4-hour deadline.
  • A brief write-up of your problem interpretation, approach and the AI tools and prompts used.
  • A short live demo and pitch. Late submissions may be disqualified.

Robo Race₹72,000

Theme Obstacle-based wireless robotics competition.

  • Teams of 2–4
  • Two rounds
  • ₹72,000 pool

How it works

  • Carry a valid institutional ID card.
  • Robot: maximum 250 × 250 × 250 mm and 3 kg; on-board battery only, maximum 12 V.
  • Control must be wireless and manual; autonomous operation is not permitted.
  • Custom-built robot required; ready-made toy cars are not permitted.
  • The track may include zig-zag turns, ramps, rough terrain, speed breakers, narrow bridges and other obstacles; some details may stay undisclosed until event day.
  • Round 1: head-to-head race between two robots; the winner qualifies.
  • Round 2: timed trial for qualifiers.
  • Robots must follow the marked course and attempt all obstacles. Robot-to-robot contact is allowed only where the organisers permit it.
  • Skipping obstacles, dangerous driving, deliberate damage, unauthorised interference and unsafe operation all draw penalties.
  • Report at least 30 minutes before your slot and pass technical and safety inspection. Dimensions, weight, power and authenticity are checked; failing means immediate disqualification.

What you submit

  • Officials record raw time, penalties and effective time for each attempt.

How it’s judged

  • Ranking by Effective Time = Raw Race Time + Total Penalty Time
  • Tie-breakers may consider the second-best attempt, lower penalties, obstacle handling, stability and design, or an additional run

Code Debugging₹24,000

Theme Python and C debugging concepts.

  • Solo
  • Prelim + Final
  • ₹24,000 pool

How it works

  • Individual, offline competition; no teams and no live leaderboard.
  • Preliminary: 20 MCQs on Python and C debugging concepts, tentatively 20 minutes.
  • The top 15 by score, including time and submission penalties, advance to the Final. The Preliminary may be skipped if the pool is small.
  • Final: one Python and one C problem; both are mandatory.
  • All required libraries, compilers and dependencies are pre-installed; no internet is required.

What you submit

  • Three sample tests are visible; additional hidden tests are used for grading.
  • Correctness, time to reach a fully passing submission, and submission penalties are considered.

Startup to Spotlight₹24,000

Theme Startups, technology, entrepreneurship and industry innovation.

  • Three rounds
  • ₹24,000 pool

How it works

  • Open to intra-university and inter-university participants; registration is required.
  • Round 1, Preliminary Moodle Test: 10 questions in 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for evaluation. Round 1 decides who advances and carries no marks forward.
  • Round 2, Find Yourself Challenge: each team draws a theme chit and has two hours to develop a problem statement, a solution and a pitch.
  • Round 3, Final Pitch: 10 minutes to pitch to the judges, then 10 minutes in which the other teams probe the idea for flaws and debate it with you.
  • Judges make confidential, imaginary investments in the ideas as part of the final evaluation.
  • Fair play and respectful conduct are expected. The judges’ decision is final.

What you submit

  • Round 2: a problem statement, proposed solution and presentation pitch for your assigned theme, within two hours.
  • Round 3: a 10-minute pitch followed by 10 minutes of discussion and debate with the other teams.

How it’s judged

  • Round 2: problem statement and proposed solution
  • Round 3: solution presentation, debate and Q&A, and the judges’ imaginary investment
  • Final rankings use the combined final-round evaluation

Research Paper Poster₹12,000

Theme Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Medical Engineering, Pure Mathematics / Physics, Aerospace / Aeronautics.

How it works

  • Compete individually or in a team of two, and select an engineering domain during registration.
  • A research paper from your domain is assigned at the venue; about four hours are provided for preparation.
  • Physical and digital posters are both permitted.
  • Use diagrams, graphs, simulations, CAD models, infographics, models, analogies or any other suitable visual method.
  • Internet resources and AI tools may help you understand and prepare, but the final poster and its visual content must be your own.
  • The poster must accurately communicate the paper’s key ideas, methodology, findings and significance.

What you submit

  • Submit the completed poster for judging and present it for 3 minutes, followed by 2 minutes of Q&A.

How it works

  • The theme is announced on the day; teams get 24 hours to conceptualise, script, film, edit and submit.
  • Teams pick one subtheme from an announced list.
  • Up to 7 team members, of whom at most 5 can act.
  • The film must be original, made within the 24-hour window, and in English.
  • Film duration: 7–10 minutes, including credits.
  • Smartphones, cameras, editing software and AI tools may support your own work, but must not generate the whole video.
  • Content must suit a college-level event. Plagiarism, previously made films, late submission or rule violations may lead to disqualification.

What you submit

  • Submit the finished film within the 24-hour deadline in the specified format.
  • Subtitles are mandatory for non-English dialogue, and non-English use is capped at 20 words.
  • You are responsible for ensuring music, images, footage and other external material are legally permitted.

How it works

  • Round 1, The Hot Seat: analyse a scenario, write a decision, defend it, and adapt when new information arrives. 10 minutes thinking, 5 minutes written statement, 8 minutes revised presentation.
  • Round 2, Random Alliance: random pairs analyse an existing company’s case, identify its limits, develop a better approach and adapt to new information. 15 minutes preparation.
  • Round 3, The Mistake: take a leadership role, acknowledge an error, set priorities, build a recovery plan and communicate the response. 20 minutes preparation.
